A Root System of Restoration rising up in Africa
About The Rhiza Project
The Rhiza Project exists to bring lasting hope to the most overlooked corners of the world—one root at a time.
Our story begins in a remote village called Khelela, Kenya, where a bold move of obedience sparked a movement of transformation. Over the last few months, God has stirred something miraculous in this place, through the unwavering faith of Pastor Maverick and his wife, Sister Agnes. With no prior connection to the village, they followed God’s call—walking 17 miles a day to minister to a community in desperate need of clean water, sustenance, and spiritual nourishment.
Living in a humble mud hut, Pastor Maverick and Sister Agnes took in six orphaned children, not knowing how God would provide—only that He would. Their faith became action. Their action became testimony. And their testimony became an invitation.
We said yes.
Together with Renewed Ministries, we partnered to help bring tangible resources to a place forgotten by most but seen intimately by God. Our first step was installing a solar-powered well to bring clean water to the village—marking the beginning of something deeper: restoration.
From there, we began building.
A new orphanage now stands completed.
Fifteen children now call it home—with space for 50.
They receive daily food, medical care, education, and—most importantly—love and discipleship. God has provided furniture, livestock, and grain—turning the property into a self-sustaining home and hope center for the next generation.
But this is only the beginning.
We’re now entering Phase Two: building a permanent church that will anchor the community and disciple hundreds more. Though believers currently gather under a tin roof held up by trees, God is stirring revival. This new structure will serve not only as a church, but as a training center, an outreach hub, and a place of education for the entire region.
Local workers are being hired. Families are being supported. Skills are being developed. Lives are being changed.
And the root system is growing.
We believe what God is doing in Khelela is not meant to stay there. This is a seed that will take root and spread across Africa—bringing hope, healing, and salvation to dry and weary lands.
"I don’t say this because I want a gift from you, but because I desire fruit that may abound to your account."
— Philippians 4:17
Will you plant with us?
Together, we can see the Kingdom of God established in places the world has forgotten—but Heaven never has.
